art project to Benefit Planned Parenthood

Hello friends and colleagues,

I know there’s not a lot of energy right now. It’s hard to do anything when there’s this much sadness. But I’m inviting you to participate in a project. Because sometimes a plan, any course of action, can help, even just a little.

I’m asking artists who make brilliant art and tell wonderful stories, to help collaborate on a print to sell to benefit Planned Parenthood.

Here’s what to do:

Go to the list link below, RSVP to this project with your email, claim an activist for women’s rights,* and draw a portrait of this person holding a light of some kind. A candle, a flashlight, a lantern— something to shed light on dark times. Draw your portrait, color it, and send it to me ([email protected]), and I will combine them in an image of a march. They’ll be sold with all profits going to Planned Parenthood, to try to keep this important institution going.

*I chose women’s rights activists because women depend on Planned Parenthood in profound ways, and have been threatened by the outcome of this election. I know it’s not perfect, but this is just a start. I'm hoping that this works, and to continue this series to benefit the ACLU and NAACP.

Here is my portrait of Victoria Woodhall.

Thank you. Let's make art and be there for each other and look out for our neighbors.

Please submit your portrait:
